I am tired of essay writing now. Some times, I can not fully use the word limit. Say, I may only write 300 words for a 500-word-limit essay. Is that OK?

Clark, my problem is that I can not control myself within the 500 word-limit, any deletion will be painful for me and even make my essay incomplete.

So do I have to strictly control my words, since you H people are great leader who can speak and write concisely?

Or is, say, 550 words OK for the ADCOM?

when you submit the essay on line, you'll find a notice on HBS website that says: DO NOT EXCEED WORD LIMIT. it's in boldface. i guess they are trying to deliver an important message. so don't take the risk. i know it's painful to express yourself within merely 400 words. but try to review your essay and deliver only the most important message.

Yeah, they're pretty serious. We've got strict word limit on exams too. The rationale is that delivering your msg effectively and concisely is a great skill you need to have. I did lots of word cutting during my application too. I agree with Dennis' point. Take a step back, think about the key msg you want to deliver, and see if your essays can do it with less words.

Good essays come from many rounds refinement

mm, I think CONTENT IS KING. Slightly exceeding the 400 word limit should be ok for one or two essays. But don't do so constantly in all 6 essays.

I discussed this in the previous post. Pls refer to it.

There's a student intranet where the students access course info and the school posts the lastest activities. Email is still the most commonly used method of communication.

昨晚接受大家建议, 一晚上大刀阔斧的删啊删啊删啊.... 终于每篇都是400/500/600整了, 呵呵, 不多不少, 奇怪了, 原来舍不得的骨肉, 现在丢到垃圾桶里一点也不心疼了.

不知道其他学校的adcom会不会不忿, 凭什么我们也规定了500字,可就要多看50字? 哈哈, 没办法, 人性本来就是欺软怕硬嘛.

进了HBS学习不说废话可是个挑战啊~

终于完工了.
