0:57 The fight between researchers and animal-right activists about using animals in lab.
1:20 Researchers and students will show what they do in their laboratories to tell people the truch about animals used in research.

Main idea: Whether the early warning signs of autism孤独症 will develop into severe impairment?
Attitude: Objective
Structure:
1)A distinct ripple of brain waves measured while toddlers listen to words can reliably predict how they will fare in a range of cognitive areas up to age 6.
2)The study of "Motherese" shows that the lack of interest in human speech not only correlated with the severity of a child's autistic symptoms, but with a lack of typical brain response to subtle changes in syllables.
3)One sees an opposite electrical brain response to similar linguistic tests than that seen in people with autism.

1’30’’
Demonstration triggered to some extent by extremists raised awareness of the rationales for using animals in the lab. Some activists strived to fight against the protest in question.

1’10’’
How did the demonstration gradually develop?
Opinions from divided parties

1’35’’
The long-awaited breakthrough in stem-cell research has revived interest in using embryonic stem cells to treat disease. But US regulations mean that many researchers will be watching those efforts from the sidelines. (the first paragraph)
1’50’’

3’15’’
The research shows that the act of mating of PV induces permanent chemical modification in the chromosomes, affecting the expression of genes that regulate sexual and monogamous behavior. Work may one day lead to an understanding of humans’ behaviors.

OBSTACLE             4’15’’
Main idea:
The ground-breaking study has developed a method to predict autism, thus eliminating the impairment otherwise may be caused.

>The parts that are responsible for social and language deficits are in effect deeply intertwined instead of separate as scientists once thought them to be.
>Where the clues leading to this discovery came from?
>This information could be used to tailor treatment interventions from earlier ages than currently possible with behavior alone.
>although researchers ignored the influence of social interaction before, they now begin to take it seriously.

采用首字母可以方便记忆,但是如果人名太多的话,建议还是着重记忆出现次数较多的人
