It's great that you guys will take the time to help us applicants. I have questions as to the recommendation. Currently I am a graduate student in US and will get a master's next year, so I asked a faculty member to write one letter. FOr the other one, since I worked in an MNC as an engineer in the telecom industry from 2000 to 2002, I have contacted my former immediate supervisor in that company and he would like to make the recommendation. Also, since our work got the recongination of our customer, and I became a friend of one of the customers, I am sure that guy would also like to write a rec letter. So the question is, how does UM view past work experience so long ago? Shall I get more focused on the past two years experience? Is it better to get the letter from the customer since his recognization meant $$$$$$$$ in revenue.

Also, for the past two years, I started a software company with several friends in Beijing and the company has secured a small contract this year, but we are still far from the break-even point. How can I make the best use of this experience with respect to recommendation?

Thanks a lot!

More questions to come:

I completed the interview weeks ago. The interviewer was very frank and told me directly that many Chinese are interested in staying in US after graduation, at least for several years. He pointed out that my MBA focus, marketing, was not a good choice to get a job after graduation in US for reasons that you guys all know, besides, I am seeking a career change and have no prior FT WE in marketing, or business. That remark was totally unexpected, but I still made it clear to him that I am interested in marketing and have transferrable skills to pursue that goal.

Do you guys think that switching to marketing doesn't make any sense with my background? Any suggestion as to the MBA focus? Any feedback is appreciated!
