Some people hold the opinion that it is more important for students to study history and literature than it is for them to study science and mathematics. From my point of view, no doubt, I think it is more important for student to study science and mathematics. Because there are too many benefits that outnumber its disadvantages. I would like to reason and provide evidence to support my opinion.

First, we can observe easily that in mordent society. Anyone who lives in this society must know some knowledge about science and mathematics. For example, when we go shopping, it is necessary for us to consider that we should buy the things not only have a good quality, but also have reasonable price. We can use the economic knowledge to count that which is the best way to manage the money properly .as a result, we can use the less money to buy the better things. Don’t you agree with me?

There is another obvious advantage for studying science and mathematics, that is, science and mathematics are the indispensable knowledge in our work. It cannot be denied that more and more work need us apply the science to the job, such as computer. Companies required their stuffers operating on computers and processing the data. Working on computers can make the work more efficient and effective. If we do not have the knowledge of science and mathematics, it is difficult to finish our jobs with satisfaction. Even, we may lose the job. Therefore, as a student, we must study science and mathematics carefully.

The third, not the last is that just because of the development of science and mathematics, we can have mental and material civilization .if paper had not been invented, we would not have the records of history and literary works. If nobody studied scientific law, we would not have the high developed society. Computer, television, and other high tech things which we use every day, all of them were invented by the methods of science and mathematics。Obviously, science and mathematics play an important role in human society.

Of course, studying history and literature also has advantages to some extent. Appreciating literature can open one’s mind. Learning history can make people intelligent but compared with studying science and mathematics, it is not so important as science and mathematics.

In a word, science and mathematics is more important than history and literature for students to study, as shown above, studying science and mathematics has benefit in our lives and work, and also can improve the development of our society.
