With the rapiddevelopment of technology and the improvement in the standard of living, anincreasing number of long-distance communication tools were invented by scientificinstitutions and become more and more popular among companies. As the new toolsbecome available, it seems that numerous companies commence to offer flexibleworking ways – working at home. It is undeniable that this revolutionary changebrings great convenience to our life. However, as far as I am concerned, workingin the office is absolutely better than working at home in following aspects:

Compared with working at home, employees work with higher efficiency atoffice. Obviously, workers are able to concentrate on their tasks with moreease in the office due to fewer things distracting their attention, while it istotally the opposite when working at home. For the ones who sleep late lastnight may fall asleep during office hour as there is no others can spy on them;For the ones who just have new-born babies, they may leave the unfinished tasksthere because their babies are crying and asking for feeding; For the ones whohave watched a new series TV programs may continue to finish it as they cannotcontrol themselves without others monitoring. The above situation may happenwith high possibilities and it would highly result in low productivity.

A good relationship with colleagues can be developed if work in the officeis selected. There is a growing awareness that mankind become seriously apathyto each other with the progressively increasing accessibility of communicator nowadays.Similarly, an intimate relationship is impossible to be produced among dailytelephone call or Internet chatting. Furthermore, close connection andfamiliarity among teammate is extremely crucial, as it is the vital point forteam working. It is difficult for the leader to reconcile a group of strangers,which will definitely slow down the entire progress.

Face-to-facediscussion makes group members comprehend others easier. It is unavoidable tohold a telephone conference when the partner company is at the other side ofthe sea, under which situation the developed tools do assist a lot. However, ifall the employees of a company work at home and have to discuss every projectusing a telephone or sending messages, how inconvenience it is! A face-to facegroup discussion is always the best way to get others ideas and make sure everyoneconcentrate on it but not fall asleep or walk away.

However,working at home does have its advantages. People can save time to carrythemselves between home and office; people can work in more relaxing environmentand wearing comfortable clothes; people can cook during lunchtime instead of goingoutside and eat unhealthy food. But from my point of view, although workingfrom home is a better choice for employees themselves, working at office isabsolutely a correct choice for companies, which can make them stand out amongtheir competitors.
