Agree or disagree: to solve the problem of present and future, it is necessary to understand the past.

The past is important just as it shapes our world today. It is a mirror reflecting us and thus is essential to our self-identity. After all, the best approach to knowing and judging ourseleves is seeing ourselves in others, which can contribute to problem-solving whenever at present or in the future. A. E. Stevenson was definitely right in stating, "We can chart our future wisely and clearly only when we know the path which has led to the present."
Everyone should have a view of the past, regardless of distinct births, fractions or parties. Like or not, we're travelers in time who constantly draw on our past individual experiences in judging the present; and if we haven't individually experienced anything similiar to the present situation that we're in, we draw on our collective memory-the very thing thing that we call history, which is the literature form of the past.
And since we view present occurrences from this time perspective, the past decisions and actions also set precedent for our future options and precausitons. Why are we intensely concerned about the mass killings in Rwanda? That's because we know about the atrocities of Hitler and Mussolini. Why are there on-going, concerted efforts to curb the spread of AIDS across the world? That's due to the lessons we have learned about the ravages of the Black Death and TB. And why do we believe lofty statesmen are just human? Partly thanks to our knowledge about Thomas Jefferson's love affair with Sally Hemmings and the impeachment fo Bill Clinton. Hence, it seems the American philosopher George Santayana was right in saying, "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it."
All in all, if human beings want to go further in the long historic river and avoid stagnation by all kinds of problem, one thing must be remembered: only by deep understanding of the past can people conquer one mountain after another, cope with one problem by one, and ultimately, make full use of the past to serve a better present and future.

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement: All high-school students should take basic economic
courses。
Just as the excellent economist Gregory Mankiw said in his classic economic textbook, "Economics is the study of how society manages its scarce sources."  True as it is, we live in such a world that everyone has to make decision nearly every moment owing to the scarcity of sources. The same is true of all high-school students. Therefore, no doubt, i hold the positive attitude for these high-school students to take basic economic courses.
The first reason i want to support my argument is basic economic courses can tell these adolescents how to balance the leisure time and study. Because of the limitation of time, which God gives every person the same 24 hours a day, these high-school students should have a time schedule to plan this limit time. Additionally, the high school period is the preparation of the university education. After SAT exam, these students will go the different university to have a further education, which is the most crucial period of the life time. Thus, better mastery of these basic economic courses, more effective plan the student can make, ultimately, much more possible it is for this student to gain a higher education.
Moreover, there is a positive correlation between the age of a child and the pocket money he or she has. So, probable it is for high-school students to leave much money in their pocket. Through the learning of some basic economics, epecially accounting, when these students know that it is also applicable of scarcity theory for money, some phenomena such as the misuse of  money can be useful avoided.
Besides, although some time must be left for economics study, hard it is to say economics-studying is not a way to cultivate high-school students' interests. Economis is a wide-angle subject, which has an intersection with politics, psychology, mathmatics and so on. Therefore, the learning process of an economic course is also an open window to have a view of many other subjects. For example, economists usually have an another role of government advisor, who directly participate to the governmental policy-making.
All in all, matering basic economic knowledge is a must for every person including high-school students. Earlier people grasp it, more convinient their life will become. Therefore, it is a pretty good choice for all high-school studnents to take basic economic courses.

9.5 同不同意,社會制定了太多規矩給年輕人 Do you agree or disagree that the rules in societies today are too strict for young people.

It is no exaggeration to say that this society is keeping moving because of all kinds of different rules. In old Chinese proverbs, there is one telling us that no rules, no countries. True as it is, no matter where you are living in, a family, a community, a state, or any big or small groups, obeying the rules is the prerequisite. The same is for young people, too. Now, the topic as heated discussed of whether the rules for young people in our societies is too strict or not is still unsettled. Here, I, given the chance, express my positive attitude towards the rules stipulated for these young people is not that strict as discussed.
First, as i mentioned above, the position of rules in a society is so significant that it give one person a standard behavior helping him towards the right path, especially for the group of the young. Therefore, no wonder that many rules is aimed at young people because their mindset is not mature as adult, such stipulation can usefully encourage them to do the right thing and avoid tragedies happening. For instance, the rate of adolescent delinqunecy is very high in such countries like South Africa, congo and many other African countries. Why? the main reason is they lack of enough rules to restrict their young. So, the effect of rules in a society is so important than ever imagined.
Second, just like some things that when lost do we only realized how precious it is. These rules, in another angle, are the precious things we ignore. Just have a presupposition that there are no so much rules any more, what will happen? No difficult to imagine, all will be disorder. Thus, these rules added to young people is such a thing you cannot lack but readily forget.
Besides, Although the rules are relatively more attached to the young compared to these of adults, these young should learn to accept. Since the door of society is still not open to them, these young don't know how many rules are waiting for them when stepped into companies, attended wedding ceremonies, even other public acitivities. So, the dream is usually more beautiful than the reality. But sometimes, the dream is always the dream when there is no much reality as basement.
In a nutshell, "strict" is not a suitable word describing the rules attached to the young, instead, these future elites should accept them and keep moving.

Young people today more likely to give time and effort improving the world than young people were at the past.
現在的年輕人比過去的年輕人更願意把自己的時間精力投入到改善世界中。

You can never imagine what the world will be like in the 21st century if you are living in 500, 200, or even 100 years ago.  Within a latest 100 years, several revolutions happened to light up one by one idea in the mind of human beings, of course, including young people. More opening as our times is, the young in today's world voluntarily burden the duty of improving the world and making this planet better off. Under this circumstances, I, given the chance, will vote my ballot to young people at present instead of the past who are prone to put their precious time and effort into the the construction of a better world.
The prerequisite to improve the world is having a information net enabling information fully communicated. Only in this way can we really know where is real poverty, where needs assistance the most, and where a young mom is anxiously holding her little sick baby waiting for an ambulance miring in a ragged path. We can extend our hand only when we know where needs help. So, today, there is such a informantion net we call Internet that solves all these impossibilities in the old world. And further to think about which age level is most familiar to Internet? The young. Thus, it is the reason why I always hold the opinion that the young group is more influential in bettering world rather than those in the past.
Of course, the above is just a prerequisite, you can not judge that a student could get high grades soly because of his amazing "hardware" conditions. Rather, the mindset is the critical "software". The young living at present have such "software". In this age of thought-liberating, the young are full of all kinds of ideas in their mind pertaining to improve the life quality of people in the world. Besides, they absorb more brand-new conceptions than ever before relevant to environment protection and poverty diminishment. Therefore, unlike young people at the past, the young today will be more positive towards the world-improving.
Moreover, no matter in Afican poverty aid volunterts, or UN environment protection volunteers, the young face is most. Whenever needs help, aid or assistance, there exists the contribution of the young. So, that's why young people today are more prefer giving their time and effort to better the beautiful world than ever before.
