It is called a sea, but the landlocked Caspian is actually the largest lake on Earth, which covers more than four
times the surface area of its closest rival in size, North America’s Lake Superior.

(A) It is called a sea, but the landlocked Caspian is actually the largest lake on Earth, which covers
(B) Although it is called a sea, actually the landlocked Caspian is the largest lake on Earth, which covers
(C) Though called a sea, the landlocked Caspian is actually the largest lake on Earth, covering
(D) Though called a sea but it actually is the largest lake on Earth, the landlocked Caspian covers
(E) Despite being called a sea, the largest lake on Earth is actually the landlocked Caspian, covering

this is a comparsion sentence, so ......................more than four times.................is the basic idea

The another idea is Though/Although..........

D redundant
A is out
B which wrong
E logically wrong
We go with C

48. It is called a sea, but the landlocked Caspian is actually the largest lake on Earth, which covers more than four times the surface area of its closest rival in size, North America’s Lake Superior.
(A) It is called a sea, but the landlocked Caspian is actually the largest lake on Earth, which covers
(B) Although it is called a sea, actually the landlocked Caspian is the largest lake on Earth, which covers
(C) Though called a sea, the landlocked Caspian is actually the largest lake on Earth, covering (correct)
(D) Though called a sea but it actually is the largest lake on Earth, the landlocked Caspian covers
(E) Despite being called a sea, the largest lake on Earth is actually the landlocked Caspian, covering

OG中解释:A: The referent of which is unclear. Grammatically, its antecedent cannot be the landlocked Caspian, so it must be either Earth or the largest lake on Earth. The latter is a little odd, because the sentence has already said that the lake in question is the Caspian, so one would expect and instead of which. For these reasons and because Earth immediately precedes which, the sentence appears to say, illogically, that Earth covers more than four times the surface area of Lake Superior.

楼主:“我的疑问:“comma+which”中的which不是说:前面是介词短语,可以跳跃修饰核心词么?  所以说which...可以修饰the largest lake 么
OG给出的“The latter is a little odd, because the sentence has already said that the lake in question is the Caspian,”感觉说服力不是很高啊,要是考场上遇到这样的模棱两可肿么办啊。。。”

首先先脱离解释,看看A的意思:大家可以YY下 It is called a sea(整句话在比大小,sea应该是很大的意思),but the landlocked Caspian is actually the largest lake on Earth. 正常来说,看到but表示转折,那么作者应该想说明其实Caspian没那么大。但是读完整句话的核心意思其实还是再说Caspian挺大的。好矛盾啊!
关于OG中A的解释。OG的解释是说,用", which"表示的定语从句是用来修饰the largest lake的(修饰earth未免也太离谱了,这不是CR,所以要适当结合实际),那么就是相当于对the largest lake的说明/补充,可是 the landlocked Caspian is actually the largest lake on Earth,既然指名道姓这个lake,那么这个补充说明又是指代Caspian。那这个时候用and来替代which不是更好吗?the landlocked Caspian is actually the largest lake on Earth, and covers......
