求助：申请PhD遇到的财力证明(Financial Certificate)的问题

商学院PhD一般给了admission同时也会grant financial assistant，但还是要提供financial certificate，是不是这个财力证明只是为了I-20等一些visa documents？所以，那么financial certificate到底应该怎么填？是统统填0，和申请材料一同寄去；还是先不填，等到学校给了offer才填呢？

另外请各位看看Georgia State University这段话是什么意思？

PhD Program: Financial Requirements.

Georgia State University reserves the right to admit only those international applicants who are academically qualified and who have documented their ability to meet the financial requirements while in attendance. If offered admission, applicants who are requesting an F1 (student) visa must submit the Georgia State University Financial Affidavit with attached supporting documentation.

我查了Georgia State University的Q&A，上面明确说All accepted applicants receive a stipend and tuition waiver.  Stipends normally range from $10,000-16,000 per year. 那么上面那段话是说必须提供足够的financial certificate，才考虑提供admission吗？

美国的大学大部分都要求财力证明，但是申请PHD的话应该是绝大部分可以获得全奖的。不过现在问题是负责录取的是研究生院，要国际学生要填写财力证明才给录取，可是没有录取我怎么能拿到奖学金呢？是不是这个表可以先不置之不理呢？

不过今天我又看看GSU的申请表，上面说

Applicants requesting an F1 (student) visa must submit financial documentation to show proof of their ability to meet the financial requirements while in attendance. This information will be requested only if the applicant is offered admission.

而且看了几个学校的申请checklist，很多都是说把financial certificate交给International Office之类的地方，应该是跟admission没有关系，拿到admission以后再把financial certificate交给International Office处理Visa问题。

exan，我是菜鸟一只，G/T成绩都不高，也没有什么论文发表，却自不量力申请想申请FINANCE，希望我们没有撞车。因为我是一直是学这个专业的，倒不是非学这个不可，是因为申请别的专业觉得自己实在是一无所知。：） 我现在申请了几所美国大学，大都遇到这个问题。GSU只是其中一个罢了，搞得我越来越没有申请的信心了。：（

一般来讲，financial documentation 都是在录取之后才会要求的。如果是拿到全奖的PHD，只会要求tuition+living expense+other expense-tuition waive-stipend剩下的那部分差额，一般在2000美金之内，不用担心。

stelladaiyan mm, 看来我们没有撞车，我申请MIS，也因为我一直学这个专业,hehe Finance很好，Finance教授的薪水比IS教授的高多了。我本来也想申请Finance，但是咨询了一些教授，他们还是建议还是不要跨行申请，所以...

申请PhD应该不用担心这个financial certificate的问题。重要的是怎样把自己stand out，比较郁闷的是真的很难stand out! 没有牛成绩，没有牛推荐信，唯一能尽力的就是写好essay。要命的是每个学校每个concentration一年就只要2个，至多不超过6个，而申请人多过50，甚至100多。希望渺茫...，所以我还选了几个MBA作为Backup。Anyway good luck, stelladaiyan mm!
