Hello CDers, Happy New Year!! 我们是来自西雅图University of Washington Foster MBA Class 2014的中国学生，这是第一个关于Foster MBA的学校信息汇总&答疑贴，也是经Admission Office授权发布的信息贴。对Foster、对UW和对西雅图的生活感兴趣的同学欢迎在此帖搜寻你们需要的信息并和我们进行交流，我们的愿望是能让大家从此帖里看到一个真实的Foster，选择适合自己的MBA program。

Foster MBA有full-time MBA, Evening MBA, EMBA 和Technology Management MBA四个项目。此帖主要介绍full time MBA。对其他三个项目感兴趣的同学可查阅网站或email mba@uw.edu。 除full time MBA外的三个项目都是part-time MBA。
Full-time Academics: Foster full-time MBA是quarter制, 每一年为三个quarter, 1st & 2nd quarter主要课业是core classes, 包括Marketing, Managerial Finance, Accounting etc. 从2nd quarter开始开始有elective, 允许跨学院选修, UW的CS和EE是全球知名的专业, MBA学生完全有机会选修这些专业的课程。
Class 2013 & 2014 profile
Small class pool是Foster MBA的特色之一，100人左右的pool是理想的课堂人数，可以有效得分享资源，keep collaborative and diversified。
UW是有4万+学生的大学校，所以成为foster的一员意味着拥有庞大的UW校友资源。2013 Internship and 2012 Full-time Job Data：
Foster的location优势是毋庸置疑的，西雅图云集众多的公司总部:Microsoft, Amazon, Boeing, Expedia, Starbucks, T-mobile, Philips Healthcare…Foster MBA是这些公司每年的recruiting target。以Microsoft和Amazon为例，interview的过程都on campus，每年这两个公司分别从Foster招聘7名左右的intern，以100人的class size为分母，这是不小的比例，被聘学生里有持大陆或港台护照的中国学生。

Q: What I most like about Foster?
A:
-  There are a couple of things I like about Foster. The first is that it has relatively small classes. In a way I think this works great with networking because you can really build in depth relationships with your classmates compared with Harvard and other big B-schools that have about 800 population per class year. Within a smaller class,competition is less stressful as well. The other thing I like about Foster is the location. Seattle is a beautiful place and pretty convenient for students without a car. Seattle also has a lot of large companies with headquarters stationed here. I believe this gives Foster MBA students a competitive advantage in looking for jobs and internships.

- 我们今年总共只有90几个人, 所以大家都彼此熟悉, Professors也认识所有学生。
Professors认真教学, 有问题也热心解答。 很多alumni在毕业之后 找他们他们也都热心帮助。 (强调一下教Finance Core的Professor Thomas Gilbert is soooo awesome)- Culture 很collaborate,大家互相都很support.在这里，只要想找某个alumni 或者 2nd year 聊一聊， 请教career path, 他们基本上都很爽快就答应。
- (由于UW是公立学校) 学费比很多MBA便宜至少10k，2^nd year有TA机会，免除所有学费同时有不小收入。

Q: What is your least like about Foster?
A：- Coming from aninvestment banking background, the Pacific Northwest is not a place to be whenyou are targeting for a job in banking. Most of the companies here are stronglytech related and some CPGs. Very few of the internships Foster students get arewithin the banking (investment banking) industry. If you are looking for a morebanking related position post MBA I would still suggest the east coastB-schools.

- 不得不说下Seattle的天气，众所周知西雅图地区每年有9个月的雨季, 西雅图的夏天绝对是完美的，阳光灿烂又不那么热，而进入雨季后每天阴雨绵绵冬天也会下雪，但时间一长你就会觉得下雨是西雅图的一部分，雨是这个城市的标记


Foster's STP
Foster的Marketing program很出色，Marketing里有个重要概念是STP，选择一个MBA项目也需要了解其targeting and positioning，让我们说一些“如果"

如果你短期career goal不是非去华尔街或去topconsulting不可
如果你希望完成一个career switch
如果你不是非去top 20 MBA不可
如果你喜欢山峦，森林，湖泊，雨后清新的空气，四月的樱花纷纷，碧绿的海水，帆船，背包旅行，一年四季的海鲜，Chihuly的琉璃艺术，弥漫到街道角落的咖啡香…
如果你未计划到美国后马上开车，希望乘坐20分钟公车就能到downtown逛街，坐一小时metro到机场
如果你想加入一个 highly collaborative community，想和你所有的同学成为朋友
如果....

补充一下，Class 2014共有11中国学生，其中5位来自大陆，2位来自台湾，1位来自香港，1位来自加拿大，2位已经在美国定居。
背景也是diversified的，包括IB finance, corporate finance, big 4 auditing，real estate，e-commence marketing, marketing research, IT product manager.
