Claim: Major policy decisions should always be left to politicians and other government experts. Reason: Politicians and other government experts are more informed and thus have better judgment and perspective than do members of the general public.
Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the claim and the reason on which that claim is based. 正文 The claim suggests that as civilians we should leave the politicians and government experts to make major policy decisions since their information collection, their professionality in judgement making and their perspective out weight that of the general publics'.
As a matter of fact, making major policies is one of the duties of the government, it's one of the reasons why we need the government. Same as other occupations like cook, barber, judge etc, we need them and there has to be someone to get that expertise and do the job for other people. High level politicians are usually sophisticated people who gained the advocacy of the majority of the public to represent them. They were empowered and funded by the public and they get the convenience to make surveys, to hire specialized staff to analyse the public issues and to efficiently make policy decisions for the sake of public welfare. By handing over the right of decision making to the trusted government, we people can focus on our own character in the public and live out an easy life. It seems pretty plausible that we should always let the government do the job and never look into it.
However, this claim holds true on the premises that the government is always wise and utterly trustable by the whole public. Apparently that is not possible. First of all, the government only can represent the interested of the majority public, so should we neglect the appeal of the minority, obviously not. Secondly, there is never a period in the history that corruption in government is extinct, which means there is no fully trustable politician. However indifferent and smart the politicians are, they are still human beings as everyone else is, they have desires for wealth and power which may make them depraved. In consequence, there is no always trusted government and there will never be an policy appear to be entirely fair, which means sometimes we should look into the policies and participate in the process of policy establishment.
Here is the better suggestion, major policy decisions can be illustrated by the government and should undertake the query from the public before enacted. Making a tentative policy maybe a good idea in some circumstances. Exceptional scenarios should be taken into account to make the policy as complete as to meet the need of both majority and minority.
In summary, the major policy should not always be taken over by the government but sometimes they need to be established with the joint effort from both the public and the government. |
