D中的their是指workers，后面是不是应该用their last schedule day"s",不然是同一天了？

I put D initially, and that's why I believe my explanation got to be convincing.

D distorts the orginal meaning the author tries to say.

If we convert the sentence to an different order, it could be composed as following:

    Most severance packages require workers to stay until (d) their last scheduled day in order to collect

                                                                     or (e) the last day that they are scheduled to collect

In D, it's saying that the workers are required to stay until the last day because they need to work (to collect packages). "Collect" here doesn't modify "day".

In E, its saying that the workers are required to stay until the last day. This last day is the last working (collecting) day.

Because of the difference between these two and common sense, I stick to E.

BTW, I think "their" in D and "they" in E both refer to the workers because if not, "in order to collect" should be changed to "in order to be collected"; likewise, "are scheduled to collect" should be changed to "are scheduled to be collected".

Also, the singular title of the novel demands a singular verb: for example, one would say, "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is (not "are") a great book." Only C, the best choice, satisfies both requirements. Choices A and D incorrectly substitute as for that to introduce the relative clause. Choice A also mistakes the novel title for a plural (were published). B confuses meaning (written in the same year of publication as). E creates a similar confusion of meaning, and both D and E are awkward and imprecise because that is too far away from its referent (letter) to be clear.

1.D中的in order to 说明stay的目的, 不对their 有限制, 所以their歧意 可指package可指人. 而E中的they受to collect的限制,只可能指worker. 如果是指package,则应是to be collected.

2.in order to的逻辑主语不明.句法上倾向于指主语,而这里句意要求指worker. 这种情形ETS倾向于用从句.可参考OG上国王那道so as to题.(忘记题号了)

您们说 D distorts the meaning...我怎么看不出怎么 distort 法, 相反, 我觉得 D 才确切表达出了 - "必须呆到最后一天才能(in order to)拿钱"的意思, 而 E 没有表达出这层意思.  困惑....  

NN们怎么这么肯定the last day that they are scheduled to collect  中的 that 是同位语呢? 倘若是定语从句, 那不变成 "collect the last day" 了吗?  明显的错误啊?
