Possibly, there will be a higher rate of protective equipments wearing among those people.Thus, the statistics are definitely flawed, it can't be used effectively back the author's argument.

Additionally, the author implies that high-quality protective gear and reflective equipment will be a great help to reduce the injuries caused by rollerskating accidents. While a protective equipment is surely helpful in reducing damages in accidents, we do not know if high-quality equipments are of necessity. Here is the thought, in heavy accidents, take the case when the roller skaters are hit by an automobile as an example, the protective gear can do little help to prevent skaters from suffering bad injuries such as fracture, while in daily practice, the middle-quality protective equipments are eligible to do the protective jobs. Moreover, high-quality usually means high price, we have o idea whether the roller skaters will purchase the expensive gears or not, let alone the argument that the high-quality equipments will help to reduce the risk of being injured in an accident.

The last but not least important, the argument is weakened by the fact that it doesn't take the innate difference between those who wear protective gears and those who don't into account. It is logical for us to postulate that the skaters who wear protective gears are naturally more aware of safety affairs than those who tend not to wear protective gears. Those who wear equipments are generally so cautious that they are less likely to get involved in accidents. In this postulation, it is the natural caution that prevent some of the skaters from get injured in accidents, not the protective equipments.

The argument for safety gear based on the emergency room could provide important information and potentially saves lives. Before the conclusion that a investing in high quality protective gear and reflective equipments is necessary, however, a more complete understanding of the whole situation must be acquired.
