14 A nation should require all of its students to study the same national curriculum until they enter college.
在进行大学教育以前,国家应该要求所有的学生学习统一的国家课程。
Recently government and society pay more attention to the education. Is there a need to require all students to study the same national curriculum before they enter college? There is no doubt that this requirement may make the students own same skills before they become the freshman. And yet, the requirement may be too strict to realize in the all national areas. After weighing the evidence above, it is certain that we should take different actions on education in the different areas. Frankly speaking, the unified requirement has so many benefits for the students and for the college teachers. It will make no differences between the students, even if they come from different areas, in which the economic levels may vary from wealth to poor. So the unified curriculum obviates the discrepancies in the education aspect that result from the poverty and unequal distribution of the resource. Similarly, it also can pave the way for their advanced education that the college does need not to consider the different conditions of every freshman, so they can build up the same unified fundamental curriculums in the college. However, this also brings much disadvantage that we have no reason to be blind to. First, it may make all students look like so similar that there is no distinction between them, which will suppress some students’ strong point in some aspects. As we all know, some students may have talents in the math, so we can give them more opportunity to demonstrate, such as encouraging them to participate in the Olympic Math Test or some math model building test. Then they can have enough energy to devote themselves in study, and this will also promote their other grades. Furthermore, the educational course should consider the different traditions embodied in the different culture. If not, and then the curriculum can be set by the local educational department or the local schools. There is no doubt that the unique traditional customs and characteristics should lie on the education to disseminate and to develop, and the national educational department can not have the enough energy to take all kinds of them into account. Thus, that will be quite difficult for setting the unified curriculum. And also some areas can not have corresponding financial ability to reach the same standard, such as the swimming course; in some poor areas they do not have the enough money to build the swimming pool for the students, let alone study. In light of the disparity, we may set the unified fundamental courses and give the local school the freedom to set some particular courses, which is conducive to their own development and considering their limited ability. In conclusion, it is clear that there is no need to set all the same curriculum for all students. We respect the local customs and distinctive cultures for their inheritance and development. Simultaneously, we have to consider the realistic conditions in the all country. Therefore, for cultivating the perfect students, who have distinctive personalities, we should let them enjoy the different educational meals. Only we do this, can the future of the education be colorful and prosperous. |
