为什么看不起 UT Austin 泥？

好像不少人对 UT AUSTIN 的 MBA PROGRAM 不屑，为什么呢？以下from an MBA forum:

排名多少算美国的一流？

Austin is a great school.
But folks really need to know what MBA is all about. Nothing shows UT will make it.
MBA is all about Harvard, Wharton, Columbia and perhaps Chicago...
Folks at any other schools (myself included), you're just having fun!

austin在top20已不是一年两年了, 而是有近二十年的历史了.如果说bw上刚掉出top20(正好21),也不足以说明什么问题.如果说他是公立学校的缘故,但同样是公立,这些年来排名与austin不分仲伯的北卡,为什么就另眼相看呢? 如果说他是hi-tech为主(不知为什么,好些人都有以finance为主的学校为好的倾向),那么同是hi-tech为主,在usnews上与austin同排在17名的cmu呢?因为cmu是私立的缘故? location的缘故? 呵呵,那是对texas太不了解了.

我也可将UT作为我的申请对象之一,费用是一方面,其实这个学校对中国人还是相当友好的.再说,那儿只有这一个学校,所以,地区的就业形势因该说还是不错的.

不过,我还想多了解一下这个学校的情况,不知道大家有什么信息发'?

是阿， UT AUSTIN曾经排过BW第二的， 便宜， 公认的最好的公校之一， 显然发表这些言论的人， 从来没去过德州

Austin is really a very solid school and has its nitch market in southern states, but it never ranked top 10 n businessweek. Here is the rankings in BW from 1988 to 2000, biannual

oops, forget to mention that the first number is for 2000 and the last one is 1988, in which they didn't break into the top 20.

UT挺好的，至少在我心里是。 不过好像第一年不给奖学金。

德州很不错，去过几次，民风淳朴，土地辽阔，而且DALLAS的工作机会也比较多。

ANYWAY, UT AUSTIN的宣传看来还是要我们这些AMMITS今后去努力了...

第一年也给INTERNATIONAL STUDENT的,是MERIT-BASED. 最高的是LONGHORN SCHOLARSHIP, 给与州外学生和INTERNATIONAL STUDENT州内学费的待遇,外加小额CASH,相待于半奖还多一些. 还有一些小额的奖学金,$2000--$5000不等.但毕竟是公立学校,PROGRAM又大,所以要拿奖,竞争相当激烈.
