According to the author of the reading passage proposes, there are three evidences that can prove the dinosaurs are endotherms. However , the lecturerthinks that all of the three evidence are inaccurate and insufficient,

Firstly, the issue of fossilsof the dinosaurs found in the polar region is regarded as an strong evidence to support the idea that the dinosaurs are endotherms. While the lecturer points out that at the time the dinosaurs existed, the climate was much warmer. What’s more, when the cold weather came, the dinosaur probably would migrate to warmer place or hibernate.

Another different opinion held by the lecturer and author of the reading passage is why the legs of a dinosaur are positioned underneath its body like those of endotherm. The author of the reading passage treats it as another evidence to enforce the theory that the dinosaurs are endotherms. While, the lecturer rejects the author of the reading passage by giving another explanation. She thinks that the dinosaurs are so large that their leg should be positioned underneath the bodies to support their weights.

Finally, the lecture says that although the dinosaurs have Haversian canals , bonesthat are usually included in the structure of the endotherms, it is not a convincing evidence. The dinosaurs have not only Haversian canals but also growth rings, which can show the growth pattern of dinosaurs. These rings occur due to the thickening of the bone. The thickening indicates that the dinosaurs weren’t actually growing continuously but were experiencing periods of rapid growth and periods of no growth in succession. This pattern. She says is characteristic of non endothermic animals.

The lecturer’s opinion is in disagreement with that in the reading passage. According to the lecturer, although selling the fossils may has some negative consequences, it will bring more benefit.

According to the reading passage, the public will have little chance to see the fossils in the museum, if a majority of them are sold to the private collector. However, the lecturer points out thatbecause of the commercial fossil sales, low level publicinstitutions can buy the fossils. The public schools and libraries can buy the fossils and exhibitit to the public. In this way, the public , low level publicinstitutions can buy the fossils. The public schools and libraries can buy the fossils and exhibitit to the public. In this way, the public may have even more exposure to the fossils than before.

There is another place where the lecturer’s view contradicts with the reading passage .The lecturer does not think that the scientists would lose many chance to make some crucial discoveries from the fossils because of the sales of fossils. The lecturer argues that whether the fossils are be sold in the market or not, they have to pass the hands of the scientists. It is the scientists who examine and test fossils. Thereby, the scientists will not lose access to fossils that have important scientific value.

The lecturer also refutes the reading passage’s claim that the private collector will destroy the fossils. She indicates that the operations carried out by the universities and institutions are not enough. If there no private fossils collectors, many fossils will remain undiscovered.

The lecturer disagrees with the reading passage’s opinion that the salvage logging may be effective but it will cause a long-term damage.

In the first place, the lecturer says that the decomposition of the dead trees release nutrition to the soil to provide the right condition for the growth of the new trees. On the contrary, the reading passage argues that the salvage logging can make room for the new trees.

The lecturer also refutes the view of the reading passage that the spruce bark beetle, which use the decaying wood as habitat would damage the forest.

The spruce bark beetles have existed in the forest for one hundred years without bringing bad effect to the forest. What’s more, the decaying wood supports many kinds of bird and insects that are beneficial to the forest as well. It suggests that leaving the decaying trees in the forest is good for the forest’s long-term health.

Finally the lecturer indicates that removing the dead trees is costly since we have to use helicopter and other equipments. Moreover, the jobs created by salvage logging are usually temporary and most of workers are outsiders whose salaries are higher than the local worker. While, the reading passage contends that this practice provides many industries with the wood necessary to sustain their production and offer employment opportunities to local people.

Under the circumstance of financial crisis, not only the governments but also ordinary people are going through a hard time. One of the factors leading to this global disaster is that many people working in the Wall Street lack the sense of responsibility to money, especially to the money of others. In this case, we feel the pressing need to educate people the importance of financial responsibility, which has the power to deeply influence or even change our life. Then another debate arises. Should we let the children to manage their own money at young age so that they can become financial responsible adults? From my point of view, we should.

First of all, I must point out the fact that people build up their habit when they are young and when their habit formed, it is hard for them to change. Have you ever heard of the story of the Jews? It is a traditional custom for the Jews to teach their children how to manage money. They allow their children to make their own decisions to spend the money, invest the money and even earn the money. In this way, managing money has become a habit of the Jew and almost all the Jews have a subtle sense of money. No wonder that a majority of bankers in the world are Jews.

Another reason we cannot ignore is that the children are facing so much incentives to spend the money than before that it is urgent to teach them to manage their own money. The advancing technology brings out new shopping models and attractive products. More and more people are shopping online and a great number of them are children. The online shopping enables the children to buy things by easily clicking their mouse. According to a survey conducted by the Consumers Association, more than eighty percents of children buy things they dont need when they are shopping online. Moreover, many children have no ability to resist the attractiveness of the developed electronic products such as the Iphone and the Ipad that they always ask or even beg their parents to buy them one. As we all know the prices of these products are usually high. If we teach children learn to manage their own money, they will realize how wasteful to spend money in the way I mentioned above. Then they may begin to learn to spend money more wisely. It is start for them to build up the sense of financial responsibility.

I admit that there are negative effects if we teach children learn to manage their own money at young age, for example they may care too much about money. But building the financial responsibility is so important that it can infect the whole world. After all the advantages overweigh the disadvantages, we should teach our children to manage their money at young age.

TPO 14 综合 看过了。语法上没有需要改动的地方吧,蛮好的。但是感觉interwave,如何质疑不够有力,是模板框架的问题吧。

The lecturer does not agree that the three methods stated in the passage will stop the spread of cane toad and she even points out that they may cause fierce environmental disaster.

Firstly, the lecturer says that even if national fence may prevent some mature cane toad from entering the region they have not colonized, it cannot stop the eggs and young toad that are able to flow with the water. As we all know, rivers and streams run from one end to another, then the young and egg be wherever in Australia.

The second method is also criticized by the lecturer. Lecturer figures out that the untrained volunteers will not only decrease the number of the cane toads but also capture and destroy the native fogs, which can hardly be told apart from the cane toads, especially when they are young.

Finally, the lecturer rejects the third method as well. As she indicates, using virus will bring unexpected harmful outcome that the virus can be brought to the central and south America where is the native habitat of cane toads by researchers and pet collectors. Under this circumstance, the cane toads will be endangered. However, the passage ignores this devastating consequence.

In conclusion, according to the lecturer, the three methods presented in the passage should not be implemented.
