我看了比较问题的精华贴总结，上面说这是主语比较中，较复杂的一种，是主谓宾全+ as+ adj.+ 不定式宾语+as的用法。这时候需要补出谓语。但是有个问题，to maintain是cost 的宾语么？原句是否还原成dirt roads cost to maintain twice as much as paved roads cost to maintain?

to maintain 不定式做补语，表花钱的目的

cost的宾语是钱或时间，cost $10 to keep it

试比较：I want to be happy 宾语

I want you to be happy  补语

我想说说的的想法，希望各位能告诉我想得对不对。

首先，我引用的这道体里面it指代的是“owning and living in a freestanding house on its own land”(我们暂且把这一长串叫做A) 而不仅仅是"owning and living".

这句的意思是，A is a goal of majority of young adults, as A was of earlier generations.

因此本帖所说的这道题里面（重新贴一下省得大家翻着麻烦）

(A) dirt roads cost twice as much as maintaining paved roads

(B) dirt roads cost twice as much to maintain as paved roads do

(D) maintaining dirt roads costs twice as much as it does for paved roads（B）

(E) to maintain dirt roads costs twice as much as for paved roads

尽管OG11里面说D选项中的it指代不明，但我觉得即使it有指代的话，它应该指代“maintaining dirt roads” 而不仅仅是maintaining。

还原之后应该是maintaining dirt roads costs twice as much as maintaining dirt roads costs for paved roads. 这显然是不对的。

我对着里面指代的理解没有错吧？？？？请指点~~

IT 只能 指代maintaining dirt roads   代入后明显不通顺 甚至有歧义。。。

我的看法：

对于D， as it does for paved roads中的it是无所指代的，因为maintain是个动词。
 

如果是maintenance of dirt roads cost twice as much as it does for paved roads. I think this maybe right.
 

 

it不仅指代中心语还包括所有修饰中心语的形容词

如果用it的话 it是否指代maintenance of dirt roads，那如果改成maintenance of dirt roads cost twice as much as that does for paved roads.行不行了？？
            

还有之前提到的
                maintaining dirt roads costs twice as much as maintaining paved roads do行不行了？
        

应该没正确答案好 ，因为比较啰嗦  但是从语法角度来看 应该不算错吧？？？？

我觉得do可以省略阿，看了比较的庖丁解牛，上面说，如果句子没有宾语，只有主谓，那么可以在比较词as/than后面直接跟比较的主语成分，不用补足谓语成分，因为不会造成主语和宾语比较的歧异。我觉得这里就是这种情况，do完全可以省略阿。另外，to maintain是不定式结构，所以省略do也不会有歧异的。。。困惑中/
