Conclusion:So if a nation wants to maintain its value system and way of life, it must not allow its highest tax bracket to exceed 30 percent of income.Premise:All nations that place a high tax on income produce thereby a negative incentivefor technological innovation, and all nations in which technological innovation is hamperedinevitably fall behind in the international arms race. Those nations that, through historicalaccident or the foolishness of their political leadership, wind up in a strategically disadvantageous position are destined to lose their voice in world affairs.
2conclusion:One plan to accomplish this is to establish giant floating seaweed farms in the oceans.
Premise:When the seaweed plants die, they will be disposed of by being burned for fuel. Conclusion:There must be another explanation
Premise: as you yourself said, the decline was on the order of 10,000 rentals.  Yet Videorama sold only 4,000 videos in 1994.Conclusion:attracting a large segment of potential consumers as loyal customers.Premise:Manufacturers issue cents-off coupons to get consumers to try their brand of product with the hope that the consumers who try their brand will switch their brand loyalty. So in the initial marketing of their new brand X, Hartman Industries should issue cents-off coupons

1. Politician: All nations that place a high tax on

income produce thereby a negative incentive

for technological innovation, and all nations in

which technological innovation is hampered

inevitably fall behind in the international arms

race. Those nations that,through historical

accident or the foolishness of their political

leadership, wind up in a strategically

disadvantageous position are destined to lose

their voice in world affairs. So if a nation wants

to maintain its value system and way of life, it

must not allow its highest tax bracket to exceed

30 percent of income.

Each of the following, if true, weakens the

politician’s argument EXCEPT:

(A) The top level of taxation must reach 45 percent

before taxation begins to deter inventors and

industrialists from introducing new

technologies and industries.

(B) Making a great deal of money is an

insignificant factor in driving technological

innovation.

(C) Falling behind in the international arms race

does not necessarily lead to a strategically

less advantageous position.

(D) Those nations that lose influence in the world

community do not necessarily suffer from a

threat to their value system or way of life.

weakengap: valuevoice下降等】

(E) Allowing one’s country to lose its

technological edge, especially as concerns

weaponry, would be foolish rather than

merely a historical accident.

IR。

2. Jennifer:  Video rental outlets inCenterville together handled 10,000 fewer video rentals in 1994 than in 1993. The decline in rentals was probably due almost entirely to the February1994 opening of Videorama, the first and only video rental outlet in the areathat, in addition to renting videos, also sold them cheaply.

Brad:  There must be another explanation:  asyou yourself said, the decline was on the order of 10,000rentals.  Yet Videorama sold only 4,000videos in 1994.

Which of the following, if true, would most seriouslyweaken the force of the objection that Brad presents to Jennifer's explanation?

(A)      In 1994Videorama rented out more videos than it sold.

(B) In 1994 two new outlets that rent but that do notsell videos opened in Centerville.

(C) Most of the video rental outlets in Centerville rentvideos at a discount on certain nights of the week.

(D) People often buy videos of movies that they havepreviously seen in a theater.

(E) People who own videos frequently loan them to their friends.

13,
背景:all nations that place a high tax on income produce thereby a negative incentive for technological innovation, and all nations in which technology innovation is hampered inevitably fall behind in the international arms race.
条件:a nation wants to maintain its value system and way of life
结论:it must not allow its highest tax bracket to exceed 30% of income
推测:有的國家的tax exceed 30% of income也同樣不lose their voice

14,
背景:scientists want to remove excess carbon dioxide from atmosphere by increasing the amount that is absorbed by plant life
条件:establish giant floating seaweed farms in the oceans
结论:the seaweed will be disposed of by being burned for fuel after they die

15,
背景:the number of the rentals in video rental outlets in Centerville together declined from 1993 to 1994, 10000 fewer.
条件:Videorama has the renting and selling services and it sold only 4000 videos in 1994
结论:the decline of the rentals is not totally resulting from the opening of the Videorama.

16,
背景:The bottles of two wines of two companies are similar
条件:The label on the Danville Company’s bottle of wine is gold
结论:Customers will buy the wine clearly

17,
背景:cent-off coupons can attract customers to try and become loyal to the company
条件:Hartman Industries issues cents-off coupons
结论:attract a large segment of potential consumers as loyal customers
