不太理解这里面的subtle做什么解释……
Men
- Your tie should go to the middle of your belt buckle when you’re standing up straight.
- Do NOT wear white socks. Socks should blend with your pants / shoes, and go up your calf.
- You want your pants to break nicely across your shoes. When you stand, your socks shouldn’t show, but the pants shouldn’t touch the ground either.
- Dark suits are generally best, particularly for consulting and banking.
- Pinstripes should be subtle.
- For interviews, you probably want to err on the formal side: white shirt with basic & traditional tie.
- However, as you get away from consulting and finance, more interesting looks become appropriate: colored shirts, stripes, etc. Still, you don’t want to be flashy.
- Avoid contrast collars/cuffs and if you wear cuff links, they should be subtle.
- Be clean-shaven and minimize or eliminate cologne.
- Details matter: collar is straight, shoes shined, fingernails clean, clothes freshly pressed.
- Get a haircut. (I know a great barber, and fairly inexpensive, if you haven’t found one yet.)
Women Women have more leewayin professional dress, which really just makes it harder. These points are to help you err on theconservative side.
- Dark suit with a neutral or dark shirt underneath.
- The neckline of your shirt should be high enough to keep your interviewer focused on your face.
- I think pants and skirt are both appropriate (some would say go with skirt, but I think that’s silly).
- Watch the length of your pants (see above).
- Your skirt should hit your knees, or even cover them.
- Again, on the more conservative side: wear nylons and closed-toe shoes.
- Heels should not be too high – probably 3” or under.
- Don’t overdo the perfume or the make up.
- Long hair should be up or at least behind your shoulders.
- Jewelry should not be distracting.
- Details matter: collar is straight, shoes shined, fingernails clean, no wrinkles.
