为什么答案是C不是A，CAN等情态动词不是原文有答案也必须有么~

1、这是一道SC，不是CR。。。
2、C比A好的最明显的一点是中间那个left比原句having left好。原句“having left”完成时表示life forms留下化石的时间比并列的前一个whether里life forms emerged的时间还早，这是不合逻辑的。显然应该是先出现后有化石，所以原句肯定错。
3、至于情态动词CAN。确实C和A表示的意思不一样了，改变了原句的意思。A是说化石还是否能够存在。C说化石是否存在。但是比起上面说的明显逻辑错误，这个意思的小变化应该算是可以接受吧。。

1.whether xxx and 所以看出是whether...whether平行，不能是whether...if平行，if在GMAT中不代表whether，仅仅做假设
所以DE排

2. 比较ABC，当中whether, xxxx, yyyy， 这个xxx结构暂时不看
所以三个结构式
A.and whether those traces can
B.and whether can those traces
C.and whether those traces

B的结构错误，verb在subject前面，没有必要倒桩

则AC的区别就是是否应该存在这个can. 所以看前半句whether biological life forms ever emerged on Mars
动词是emerged，所以这里应该用exist，而不是can，这里不是情态动词平行

总之这道题就是考平行结构

非常非常的感谢~~！！我觉得你的结构分析法很好，因为我做SC老是在逻辑上出错。。如果只用分析结构可以判断答案在实战和模考中的帮助肯定很大~

我觉得可能看适用的个人吧。。我做语法的时候如果遇到需要分析逻辑就很焦躁，往往容易错。。用结构分析比较适合我。。考前也没几天了。。不可能完全改掉自己的语法习惯了。。

单挑A和C来说：

presuming ... 这部分其实省略了that，即原应该是

presuming that such life forms ...

这样的话，that后面就要跟从句。A里面用了having，是-ing形式，不对。而such life forms fossil traces就靠谱了。
