此時A,B可以不同類~像這題就是如此!A是a concert performance 而B是ragtime opera~不屬同類!except A, B...此時A, B一定要同累~至於excepting=except 看到必錯!馬上刪 except: prep. 1.used to introduce the only person, thing, action, fact, or situation about which a statement is not true The office is open every day except Sundays. You can have any of the cakes except this one .此处A ....except B(同except A,B)确有同类的情况。 except for Everyone went except for Scott and Dan. She felt fine except for being a little tired. except for A, B.... 之外(不包含,与besides的包含不同),其他的怎样”的意思,而且朗文有这样的说法“ At the beginning of a sentence, always use except for, not just except ”,即except不用于句首。 conj. 2.used to give the reason why something was not done or did not happen except (that) Liz would have run, except that she didn't want to appear to be in a hurry. excepting prep. formal used to introduce the only thing or person in a group about which a statement is not true——synonym except (for) O'Rourke answered all the questions excepting the last one It is a desert with no animals of any kind, excepting a few lizards. excepting的解释比except的解释少了“action, fact, or situation ”,即excepting后面只能接thing和person,且朗文给出的这两个例句都是同类的。
和excepting A, B....中A和B必须同类的,不用于句首;且excepting只能后接人或物,不能接动作、事实或情况; except for A, B。。。 这题中的"concert performance"我认为是属于“action, fact or situation”的范畴,所以用excepting是“it is not the correct idiom in this sentence.”
