with是介词，介词不能引导句子，介词后只能短语。
而its trunk originally evolved。这是个完整的句子
independent clause 这个是独立分句的意思

如果说with 在这里是借此的话 确实要+名词短语才对。
我当时的理解是 evolved 是过去分词的形式。不是表达进化的时候，应该用 被动的 evolve吗？ 。。。

正确选项此题为： Australian embryologists have found evidence to suggest that the elephant is descended from
an aquatic animal and that its trunk originally (was)evolved as a kind a kind of snorkel
不知道这里为什么没有被动在。。。

这里的 to which 从句是定语从句吗？ 如果 which修饰French那不应该是has 吗？

为什么LZ要把这里的evolve 理解为被动？
这里的evolve 为不及物动词

我认为这可以修改为with+分词的形式
with its trunk originally evolving....

这句话的后半句是一个倒装句
正确的顺序是： English, S, and I words have been added to French.
但是这种倒桩一般只出现在句首    句子中间是不倒桩的，所以应该用正常语序

具体是什么句子 我说不清。。。我现在都没弄清一些terms比如定语从句 云云

不过在这which当然指French
而后面的words 要add to French
但是which和French要紧挨着，而介词一般不能和后面的名字分开，所以只能把介词提前
变成  French to which

其他的介词一样要提前 比如  China from which XXX...
