本来想写三点,但稍微速度一慢就只能写到两点。
Issue
新G题号:104
题目:To be an effective leader, a public official must maintain the highest ethical and moral standards.
写作要求:Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the claim. In developing and supporting your position, be sure to address the most compelling reasons and/or examples that could be used to challenge your position.

This issue conveys an idea that only a leader maintaining the highest ethical and moral standards is effective. While this contention could be plausible to some extent, it is inevitably too narrow in its scope. That is to say, we should take a look at the panorama in order to gain a better understanding of the gist of this issue.
First off, there’s no denying that every leader should keep themselves from corruption of morality. Suppose an image where leader with serious problem treating against his subjects, he could be doomed to failure in the end for lacking their supports. In every country nowadays—whatever form of policy runs within its frontier—the supports from its populace definitely plays a salient role of maintaining its development. And the criteria of the populace may be depending largely on morality more often than that, because through attitude towards morality the populace could determine the leader’s character. What constitutes character might be also fit for contributing to the development of a country.
Nevertheless, someone might rebut that a leader isn’t necessarily fit into the model of a person with highest ethical and moral standards—they are required by leadership instead. In this case, it’s anomalous for the populace to request their leader to concentrate on maintaining his ethical and moral standards in order to stay effective, since effectiveness isn’t formed by morality and such kinds of things—it’s solely determined by the leadership and the wisdom of the leader. While this contention may be true in some situations, it certainly omits the gist of this argument: morality could be conducive to the effectiveness of a leader other than his leadership and wisdom. For instance, it’s universally known that the government in the U.S. is always confronted with predicaments resulted from the populace. The populaces are willing to constrain the power of the government, whereas the government is struggling to seize more power. Thus, a effective way to make it easy to seize more power is to maintain a highest ethical and moral standards, or at least impress the populace with such a image. Common people may be licentious while the presidents couldn’t—Clinton’s sexual scandals end his political life; the populace may be deceitful, whereas the presidents mustn’t—Nixon’s scandals surely destroy his career. In this light, it’s crucial for the leaders to keep highest moral and ethical standards for gathering supports from the populace.
In retrospect, it’s important for the leaders to develop their leadership as well as wisdom in order to make right decisions as well as guide their countries in the right direction. But without ethical and moral standards to shore up their statuses, they could not be as effective as the ones who maintain those things. It’s a herculean task for the leaders to reflect about the balance between maintenance of ethical and moral standards and development of leadership as well as wisdom—after all, it’s sufficient moral and ethical standards that should be kept but not the highest ones—albeit it might have been tough for most leaders thus far.
