-- by 会员 fargone (2011/9/30 13:15:27)

Sorry for the delay. I was trying to ask my classmates to compile a more complete answer for you.

1. During admission phrase, you can use Linkedin to find alumni- I did that myself. And then through admission office - sometimes they may be able to do that for you as well
2. yes, you can meet up with other students - unusually if you already know someone at school, that person will introduce you to everyone you two run into, and you can start talking. Or, if you go for class visit, you can ask anyone at the class about any questions. People are usually very happy to talk to a complete stranger about Stanford. However, bear in mind that most of us's calendar will be filled up with appointments/class/events/meetings 1-2 weeks in advance, so it is already good to book something well ahead.

1. at work, there are some people who graduated from GSB and just talk to them; at admission event, there will be alumni; using Linkedin

2. For many Chinese students, oral English is the most difficult part-  learn how American speak, listen to them, try to mimic their accent; at home, watch more American TV and learn about slangs; practice speaking loud at home and compare your speech with tapes to see if it sounds similar. The best thing is to immerse yourself into the environment and try to speak English as much as possible.

I actually agree more with #1 and #5:

I truly believe in that, and I do think Stanford care about what matters most to you- they do listen and help you as much as they can, be it yourself, your family and any other things that matters to you.
