我坚决认为选E，因为即使N处的flute不是最早的，还有更早的关于diatomic的instruments，那不是说明diatomic比western早出了更多，不是更支持结果？

而E，其实是架桥梁，大家应该注意到本题中的一个隐含假设就是N早于western，进而想从N的instrument推出diatomic早于western，那么就在N与diatomic之间架桥即可。

文中有定義the diatonic scale（全音阶）就是7音阶 —the seven-note musical scale used in much of Western music since the Renaissance ，而hypothesize是说the diatonic musical scale was developed and used thousands of years before it was adopted，就是说全音阶在以前就被developed并且used过了。因此在Neanderthal campsite发现的leg bone要有7孔为前提就能证明以上的假说。

选项E 支持结论。

另说一下，以前我选B，是认为，4孔也能发展为全音阶。

“the diatonic musical scale was developed and used thousands of years before it was adopted”这个假设并未断言一定是从7孔才能到全音阶。当然也有可能是Neanderthal campsite发现的4孔leg bone经过几千年的进化成为了现在的7音阶的complete diatonic scale。

后来仔细琢磨了对于the diatonic scale的定义，如果发现的leg bone 仅仅是4孔，不管它是不是最早，根本就不能算the diatonic scale，也不能支持假说的developed and used thousands of years before。

选B的同学看看有没有这个误解的？

明白了，原来E中的long enough是指熊腿骨的长度够凿那么些个洞眼，可以吹出全音阶来。原来还以为long是指时间上够久远。
