补充一点：Professor John H. Vogel Jr 是focus这方面的，而且tuck基本每学期都有开相关课程，建议去tuck网站找找教和课程信息。

终于看完了所有的帖子。

我的long term goal想做一些类似social enterprise的东西，主要是提供为各种教育机构提供咨询服务。我想请教一下各位校友，TUCK有没有类似的课程，club或者项目呢？不管是social enterprise, non-profit, 或者education相关的。

我们的FYP （first year project）很多也是为non-profit做consulting project的。这个属于比较小众的方向，有教授是教这方面的课的，印象中有相关的marketing和strategy的课，在网站上可以看到。

education club and its coo-chairs are the right person to reach out to in terms of actual opportunities.  also consulting resources are abundant at Tuck.  we recently changed the All-win Initiative to the Center for Business and Society.  The difference between initiatives and centers is that centers are much larger in scale, so you can see Tuck is dedicated to social enterprise through its efforts.


in terms of course, I took a course from Prof. Vogel called Entrepreneurship in the Social Sector.  basically, the course prepares you with basic tools to think strategically on social enterprises, and gives you opportunity to work on a consulting project with one of the local non-profits based on your interest, so I worked with a local community college for my project.  hope it helps.

教育太小众了，印象中没看到相关公司，NPO可能有点。国内的教育机构的话，有校友在英孚。

麻烦问三个问题 ;)
1. 如果我在Essay里写Strategy&General Management这个方向的话，除了要写出Personal的Goal(为什么选这个方向），需要写以后希望从事的Industry吗，因为现在在传统制造业，以后只是想换个行业....

don't have to be specific.  a lot of us had a very vague idea before attending MBA, and that's what MBA suppose to do for you, help you decide on your career path, or in some cases, help you achieve your career goal faster.  nothing wrong to be "not sure" about the specific industry choice.  btw, a lot of people choose consulting because they don't know what's the right industry for me, example, me.

2.  另外，现在感觉Essay里遇到一点困难，因为GM这个方向本身就是比较广的概念，扩大视野，感觉真的不好Distinguish自己啊...


really can't comment on this.  but nevertheless, dig into your stories, everyone is unique.  rather than trying to worry about other candidates, and figure out a way to distinguish yourself from the crowd, i would suggest you focus on your own stories, and showcase the best part of your personality to the admission people.

3. GM方向的话，以您的经验来看，GM的毕业生除了Leadership Program还有没有其他的什么就业形式？


i'm not a GM guy, so probably not the best source for this answer, but as far as i know, many GM people go into either Rotation programs (i.e. leadership programs) or product managers (more like a mini GM position in larger corporations).  also, many people cross roads with consulting with GM background.  Hope it helps.

Education Pioneer, although they only offer summer internship, and you have to network yourself in order to get a full time position.  very tough for international student to start a career in education in the US, just to be honest.  if you consider returning back to China, then it's a complete different story, and I'm probably the least knowledgeable guy about career opportunities in China.


back to education in the US, some boutique consulting firms that focuses on education also recruit at Tuck.  arthenon Group, for example, has a very good relationship with Tuck (both its founder and chairman was a Tuck alum).  that being said, totally agree with msroro, education related opportunities are very limited in the US, most of them exist through off-campus, alumni based networks, so unless someone if very focused, there's very limited information on those jobs.

－请问Tuck有什么样比较好、比较有特色的在High Tech方面的资源可以利用？因为上次参加过Tuck的Info Session, 但没发现有从事这方面工作的校友...  

－在Amazon, Google, Microsoft这类公司就业的中国校友多吗？

－我是制造业背景 众所周知 制造业的附加值低 现在中国制造业也面临产业转型 高科技的产业是大势所趋 所以个人希望长远能进请问进这方面公司做strategy 但现在因为没有high tech的经验 请问现在我应该做些什么准备啊？
