[Essay] stanford 最后两个essay只能写三年内的经历,有那么严么?

一直在怀疑如果文章精彩了,ad的人会不会没那么严格地查是不是三年以内地经历阿

不懂,不知如何能查出来。不过如果不是自己真做过的话,面试的时候很难讲出细节的吧。

我觉得不要试图挑战stanford的adcom们的判断能力及面试官的识别能力比较好,您觉得呢?……

主要如果是三年以前的,细节很难记得很清楚了吧,我反正是很难把细节写清楚了。而且时间太久了就感觉平淡了,很难写的有激情。

not to encourage you to lie or anything, but if you could come up with convincing details to cover your ass when questioned, why not?

肯定不会写自己没做过的,只是觉得有个事情特别符合这篇文章要问的,只是时间点刚好过了三年,所以在犹豫要不要写这个。只写三年以内的,哪里会有这么多巧合重要的事情都是在三年以内阿。

我其实是在想到底他们对这个时间点卡得有多严,到底有多严肃。就像沃顿的essay字数限制一样,我开始还真以为绝对不能超过那么多字,结果看了他们网上的详细介绍才知道他们不会去数,只是告诫不要超过太多而已

hhaha, this is exactly what I am thinking. Just not sure whether it can really cover my ass and whether take the risk

Hello my friend.  If Stanford asks that you write about something that happened in the last three years, then you NEED to follow their instructions; now, if you say that something happened 1-3 years ago, and it actually happened a longer time ago, then there is of course the adcom may or may not find out that you are lying.  They do hire a background check firm, and they DO check the applications carefully.  But they don’t always catch everything.  One thing is for sure though, whether or not the events in your app actually happened within three years, tell Stanford in the essays that they did.  You must follow directions at all costs…

Hi Jon. How can a background check firm check details of what an applicant did in the last three years? Will the HR department provide any specifics regarding the applicant's job or projects?
