答案是C 为什么不能选E呢？只知道although后要接从句……这里c和E后都是从句呀

我个人觉得C和E的区别在于although前面是不是句子，C中that remain stationary although ... 相当于是把although从句放在that从句中，形成了although当作连词的作用，连接了两个句子。E中with stationary crests and toughs although... 相当于although连接了with ... 介词短语和句子，就不合语法叻。

个人感觉，请讨论。。

我觉得是这样。 简单看， with crests and toughs although ..  似乎although应该连接分句而不是单词和句子吧。。

个人理解。。

1、they的指代不清，前面有troughs,  crests and troughs两个复数形式的名词可以被they所指代（因为有and隔开所以不会指到crests身上）
2、remain是不及物动词，被动语态.....应该是用在及物动词身上的吧？ 不及物动词从语法上来说不应该有被动语态。

我看错了，不过去掉原文的一个不及物动词变成系动词，又把主动变成被动，这种选项应该被滞后考虑。
they的指代那个原因可行否？我的理由是因为altough，and都是转折连词，前后意思应该有一个分隔的作用，they的指代有就近指代和优先指代主句主语两种方式，因此E里面的they可以看做指代不清。
