粗略的翻译一下，没查词，考试的状态。

用餐越长点的越贵，但利润跟单价*个数有关，个数同时间是反比的关系，所以不能确定利润一定上涨

做题时也是在C、D中纠结，感觉C的意思和题干中 diners seated on stools typically do not stay as long as diners seated at standard-height tables 大意一致，起到了加强作用：停留时间短，客流量大，用餐人数多，加强了客流部分。（利润=单价*客流），然后感觉D至少削弱了单价部分，就选择了D。
看了各位的解答，仔细想想，是自己没有理解问项意思，忽略了逻辑主线，在细枝末节上纠结。

题目中提出了两个假设：1. 人们喜欢高桌子因为更好看名人 2.选择高桌子的人比一般桌子的人呆的时间短
然后认为换高桌子客流量会增大，推出利润增多。
事实上假设2和1有矛盾之处，喜欢高桌子是为了看名人（lingering 消磨时间），又怎么会很快就走呢（an exception to the generalization about lingering）？
C选项直接指出了这个可疑之处。
（假设1成立：若人们真因为看名人喜欢高桌子，很有可能赖着不走，慢悠悠地吃啊喝啊，店家就赚不到钱了；假设2成立：若选择高桌子的人用餐快，那么他们并不是为了打发时间看名人，换成高桌子并不能吸引潜在的喜欢看名人的顾客，店家还是赚不到钱）

做题时一定要清醒，手段—目的型题目中出现一个或多个假设是，应随时怀疑和考察每一个假设，不要被题目的混乱逻辑牵着走了（= = 直接就把店家的话当真了，没有好好推敲）。吸取教训。。。
