commodity trading

我也不是很知道，commodity trading house应该不是很value MBA吧。前面说的MIT和Wharton大概也只是学生凭自己的人脉找到的。

公众公司如BHP应该还是好进的。Cargill貌似也有自己的program。但是不知道bulk commodity部门会不会对MBA感兴趣。另外，Glencore，vitol这样低调而神秘的大鳄，貌似CD上从没人讨论过。

大家都看着投行、咨询的gloabal pay，其实我是觉得能去那些低调私有的大宗商品公司，个人感觉比投行咨询好很多。

我们学校有去BHP做trader，经济master。国内glencore，rafigura，vitol好像都有招人，见过rafigura招trader的，但是不知道门槛如何。
glencore上周已经IPO了。也不私有了。
其实有很多低调的公司远beat投行，更不用说咨询了。但是门槛也是相应的高些，一般都是大行工作几年，然后跳过去。

的确，即使投行，IBD也绝非最好的去处。

楼上说的做trader，主要还是期货吧。这行，个人觉得投行很难搞过前面说的那几大的。08年时候看到过报道，说vitol把Goldman差点搞爆仓。未来投行的业务收入越来越多会自于sales 和trading部门。

做期货的trader应该更喜欢招年轻的对数字敏感的人吧。我比较关心现货贸易的。这些公司喜欢什么背景和学校的人？以后出来能多大程度leverage到公司的资源？

Trafigura has got trainee program but not very openly recruited, and most trading houses are recruited on a referral approach, from insiders. If you are so much interested in commodity trading, why not try majors first, BP Shell Chevron, BP used to have an extraordinary 3 yrs Challenger Program which could lead you the way to trading or other aspects of physical and paper trading, ie. physical operator, blender; Shell have a similar one but not so much dedicated to trading, rather as a general graduate program and both are open to public, not so secretive as trading houses ones. BP，Shell，Chevron这几家的TRADER TRAINEE PROGRAM，1年招的人加起来也就不到10个吧。中国人估计也就1-2个,竞争太激烈了

贸易商里只有TRAFIGURA有TRAINEE PROGRAM。他们这个长年有效，其实就是一个POOL，直到上一个TRAINER走了才会想起招个新人来。

行业中人纷纷现身啊。

IOC的这几家，竞争那么激烈吗？对post MBA来说，难道比去brandname的 PE/VC/HF更难吗? 做现货trader，是不是可以理解成类似于MNC sales的角色（当然trader需要对国际贸易、运输、租船这些也要很熟悉），就像力拓进去的那几个？IOC和三大给physical trader的是commission还是bonus？

上市的IOC（比如三大IOC），应该不太会通过broker来做生意吧，这里面可能牵涉到money laundrying。但是像Trafigura, Vitol, Glencore这样的，会不会排斥broker？要去这些公司，有没有可能从summer intern做起，再penetrate？

人家市值60多B USD。Goldman也就70多B，Morgan stanley才38B。 呵呵
