请教一道没答案的语法题(GWD-11-10)

我选了C，但是仔细考虑，觉得E其实非常好，除了那个“conceive to be”之外，E的对称非常精妙，结构也不错。

看A的时候就产生了定式，认为a tool作为补语，所以就选了B，但是也的确对后半部的which很困惑。当初没有选C在于觉得C的前半部表达很繁琐，没有B来得紧凑。现在再仔细看了C，觉得的确C表达的还算清楚，但是，我的看法和jnlvo不同，我认为，that从句不是修饰a tool，他直接修饰radio，其实这个句子是一个倒装句，由于修饰radio的定语从句过长，所以被后置，原句应该是M conceived of the radio that could substitute for the telephone as a tool for private conversation; instead, it has become ...

另一方面，好像has done的时态比之is要好，因为M conceived是发生在过去。

的确是个好题目，可惜的是如果在考场上碰到，看来我是要折戟沉沙了。

本来开始选B,现在看了这么多帖子，也似乎觉得C是对的，但是始终觉得C中，把原本是插入语的部分变成主语，而把原本是主语的部分变成定语，这难道没有改变重心的嫌疑吗?这样的错误也可以忽略，只为了句子更加清晰吗?

在instead 后面，it has become precisely the opposite, a tool for...  这个部分是怎么回事？

而且，大家都在讨论 that could substitute for the telephone，我觉得这部分就是在修饰 the radio.

后面的It has become 中的It 也应该是指代the radio吧。

我觉得，instead后面的部分是 it has become a tool for ..

我觉的这题还是修饰歧义

 a tool for 单独作为短语容易产生歧义,不知道它是补充说明telephone, 还是radio,

逻辑上应该是修饰radio，修饰就近修饰。

看句意就可明白，radio原先是代替电话作为“私人通话（a tool for private conversation）”（这里“私人通话”是修饰radio用的），结果，它（radio）转变到了相反方向，变成了“大众化的”

就可选出C

AB“私人通话（a tool for private conversation）”不知道是修是谁，有修饰“telephone”的歧义

C中 it不是应该指代第一句的主语也就是MARCONI吗 这样的话 不应该选A？
