that statement is really not encouraging at all and shouldn't be here...anyways biz phd is so different than econ phds, or maybe depending on which school you attend, an easy example is biz phd is expected to go through the program smoothly, given all the support while econ phd has less funding and even qualify exams that kicks out ppl....entering a phd program really can have some other reasons, for example you wanna get to know a field better, curiosity based reasons are totally fine as long as you know what you're doing...a lot of leaders in industry have phd degree and that gave them trainings to succeed, ones that lower level education seldom gives...
