***: I have received emails recently from MSAF students who are quite upset. It seems they have received some misinformation about the number of Chinese MSAF students we will enroll in Fall 2011. I know you are a reasonable person. I hope I can rely on you to help me spread the correct information. Feel free to share the following details on QQ, ChaseDream, etc. Initially, we did plan on enrolling 50 students (the same number as last year). In December and January we considered adding more sections and providing more students with the opportunity to attend. We chose to add two more sections. We will have four cohorts of 27 students. We had such a strong pool of candidates for this program that we also placed some applicants on a wait list. After some chose to attend elsewhere, we decided to admit those on the wait list. Once received the admission plan of all the students on the wait list, we saw we had a few more spaces. We chose to go back to our applicant list and review it for capable students. There were some who had not completed the process, earlier. From this group we chose to admit students. It is not unusual for schools to adjust the sizes of their programs depending on market demand and quality of the applicant pool. There will only be 100-106 MSAF students enrolling in Fall 2011. There will be approximately 25 MS in Global Business students. That number is unchanged. It has always been our goal to enroll 25 MSGB students. Of course, we will enroll Chinese students in our MBA programs. That is unchanged, also. You see, we have increased the size of the MSAF – but the increase is not triple. We have the classroom space to increase the size of this program while keeping class sizes small (a large class for us is 30 students and that will not change). We have also hired a new finance faculty member who will help us cover the growth in this program in a high quality way. In addition, we are doing some realignment of staff, as well as hiring additional staff, to ensure that the students receive appropriate support and have an exceptional experience. Thank you for your help. I look forward to seeing you, in August!! Paul Paul E. Pinckley, Sr., Ed.D.
