答案选D现在好像比较能理解了。
encourages visitors to "touch" each  exhibit and thereby（to） activate
thereby之后应该是to activate与前面的to "touch"平行，这里to被省略了，但是因为thereby，所以前后应该有承接的作用，即通过鼓励游客touch exhibit，同时游客的这个动作可以activate the animated functions of the piece.关于B项，觉得它有造成fragment的倾向~这个状语貌似是凭空出现的，也不知道修饰的是谁，按照逻辑来说应该是...is an activation,或者是像OG所说，an activation以一个名词的形式出现貌似是想要引起一个新的句子，但是这里除了这个名词以外就没别的了……个人一点浅薄的看法，请指正~
另外我的问题是，发现OG中对ACD的解释分别如下：

A Which has no antecedent in the sentence, so
it is unclear what activated the display.
C Th ere is no antecedent for it because touch is
a verb.
E Which has no antecedent in this sentence.
看到AE中的which的第一感觉是指代exhibit，但按OG的解释来说可不可以理解为关系代词不能指代宾语或宾语补足语？因为exhibit在句中作touch的宾语？而C中的It不知道是不是有人称代词（it/they等）指代主句主语而不指代宾语的说法？但是OG对C项的解释为什么感觉默认了it应该指代touch？换言之如果touch不是动词it可以指代宾语？而且根据就近原则的话，it不是应该指代exhibit么？
