这句话的意思是”中世纪的学者们几乎不调查植物的内在解剖，成长机理，和它们的之间的相互关系。” 在否定句中，or的意思是“和”，and的意思是“或”。one another, each other都可以是代词，用法上没有问题。one another 表示在一个整体中（比如这里的“plants”）相互关系。D中one another用的很好。one another 不能和themselves 相互替换。
A：nor用法错误；each... the other搭配不好。
B：nor用法错误；How 从句不平行；each...some other 搭配应该不对。
C：one 指代不清；the next 暗示了有顺序，而原文无此意。
D：正确。they 指代无歧义；one another 表示一个整体的互相关，好。
E：each...some other 搭配应该不对，至少是some others（这么改了也不对）；each单独指代不好。（each 做代词只适合伴随或subgroup）
