Some observers have attributed the dramatic
growth in temporary employment that occurred in
the United States during the 1980s to increased
participation in the workforce by certain groups,

variations in the total number of temporary

我对B选项的理解是临时工随着某一特定人群对此工种在劳动力市场的期望的增长而增长。
OG的解释对应的定位句的一是 零时工总数量的变化与劳动力市场数量无关。说这句可以判断排除B选项。我不理解，这句话和排除B选项有什么关系啊？

因为问的是firms用临时工，即两个因素影响雇主是否用临时工：产品需要和labor's reduce bargaining strength，只能在这两个因素中考虑，b中跟这两因素都无关

额，其实我不懂那个第二个因素，我是来问E是要怎么理解的。。。

我的理解，有点罗嗦：
labor's reduce bargaining strength导致的雇主对雇佣关系的更强有力的掌控以及适应产品生产需要同时寻求降低劳工成本这两个因素，促成了雇主增设了excessive temporary positions，而这种growth in temporary employment  far exceeds the level explainable by recent workforce entry rates of groups said to prefer temporary jobs.
基于如上分析，我判断在那个时期：1、主观上，工人prefer临时岗位的总量可能是增加了；2、客观上，雇主需求临时工人的总量是明确增加的而且大于前者的数量；3、客观导致了主观现象的大量发生；4、作者批判的就是现象决定论，要揭露的就是本质--即雇主利益驱动

In a word, it increased as a result of  excessive numbers of temporary positions creating by emplyers other than the increased participatioin the workforce by certain demographic group.
