SC66为啥不能用as big as 30 feet long,说的比og清楚多了
In addition to the fact that "includes" is incorrect, "as big as" doesn't fit here either. The problem, however, doesn't stem from any idiomatic issues. For example, it would be fine to say that a whale can grow as big as a house. The problem involves "30 feet long." We don't measure "bigness" in feet. We measure length in feet. So, saying that "something is as big as 30 feet long" is akin to saying that "something is as long as 12 degrees Celsius." There are no units of measurement for "bigness." It's a very vague word, and we often use it in a relative sense. So, I might say that "the rock is as big as a car" in which case I might be comparing their sizes/weights. I might also say that "the US is almost as big as Canada," in which case I might be referring to their areas. As I said, though, big is very vague. So, we wouldn't use actual units of measure with this word. |
