DBA和PhD差异非常非常大。

DBA主要都是职业教育，例如HKPU的DBA项目的参与者大部分都是内地国企老总（当然也有别的），费用跟北美MBA差不多。

哈佛貌似也是DBA,不过性质貌似跟你列的这些不同，不确定。

是啊，但是我见有很多这些DBA的毕业生也去了AASCB的b-school去当教职的啊？！奇怪~比较典型的是香港理工的fiance department有个professor就是DBA毕业的，而且还发了一些不错的杂志~诡异~

貌似cleveland state 和louisiana tech的项目有点像phd~是有不少人进faculty的~
但是像ployu和cityu的那两个项目纯属给老板读的貌似还是partime的~

这说的不对，Oxford 也是DBA，照样top school教职。。如果二者不同时存在于某个项目下，我觉得可以当成是一样的项目。

Actually, I am wondering if I should do a DBA in Manchester rather than PhD. I am wondering if this will be accepted by some universities in Hong Kong as an equivalent doctorial degree so that I can become an assistant professor in Hong Kong (assume that this is the only factor concerned)

normally the academia holds extremely different metaphors towards DBA and PhD. harvard is THE most unique example. and the business school professors @ HBS have been doing research in a non-traditional way. taking OB for example, from the first day of their doctoral training, it is vital to learn how to get connected with HBR/CMR/SML agents rather than w/ AMJ/JAP/ASQ/AMR editorial board members. they don't give a damn on publishing @ these top journals. and they would not even bother landing their tenure on these traditional publications. their graduates always found it hard to survive in a traditional setting. what they care about is how to make practical contribution by publishing books rather than journal articles. I had a professor who graduated from HBS. it was quite amazing to see that she did not even know how to do structural equation modeling. yet she has been extremely strong in other methods that could land on book publications.

from my own standpoint, i would strongly urge u NOT consider the DBA program if u wanna end up with academic placement unless u can get accepted by HBS.....

btw, GSU DOES have a PhD program which is strong and solid. don't make it wrong that they ONLY have executive DBA program.
