Thank you very much for applying to Fordham’s MSQF program. To prepare you for the interview next week, I would like to provide you with some additional information.
It gives me great pleasure to tell you that we have added another full-time program to our MS offerings: the Master of Science in Global Finance. I wish to tell you that next week I will interview on behalf of both the Master of Science in Quantitative Finance (MSQF) program and the Master of Science in Global Finance (MSGF) program. I understand that you are applying for the MSQF program and I will interview you accordingly. However, I do want to introduce to you the possibility of your joining the MSGF program at Fordham. We want to provide you an opportunity to be interviewed and considered for both the MSQF and MSGF programs.
As you already know, our MSQF program is highly quantitative, with intensive one-year teaching schedule on the quantitative skills, the programming skills, and innovative financial products. The typical career path for the MSQF students is on the investment side or the buy side, such as financial analysts performing quantitative analysis to support traders and portfolio managers, risk management in investment banks, etc. The MSQF program lasts for one academic year and a summer semester (for internship). Students can also choose to postpone their graduation for one more semester. In comparison, the MSGF program focuses less on the quantitative and investment side and more on the corporate finance and the sell side. The typical career path for the MSGF students are financial analysts for investment banking division, financial consulting, financial managers in global companies, etc. The MSGF program lasts for one academic year and a summer semester, with an option to postpone for one more semester. The internship is not part of the MSGF program.
Please find more detailed information on Fordham’s MSGF program at http://www.bnet.fordham.edu/msgf/. Please note that Fordham is now working with BiMBA for the second cohort of the part time MSGF program, as shown on our website. If you are admitted, you will join the first cohort of the full time MSGF program. The curriculum of the full time MSGF program is the same as the BiMBA part time program. The difference is that the full-time MSGF students will take eight courses in academic year 2011-2012 and take two more courses in summer 2011 together with the part time BiMBA MSGF students.
Please inform me before your interview if you are willing to be considered for both the MSGF and the MSQF programs, or only for the MSQF program. If you want to be considered for both programs, we will judge your qualification for both programs based on your skill set. Finally, please be sure that you are under no obligation to agree to be considered for the MSGF program. Your decision/choice of not being interviewed for the MSGF program will have no adverse effect on your chance to be admitted to the MSQF program. Conversely, your desire to be interviewed for the MSGF program will not reduce your chance to be admitted to the MSQF program as well. Again, we’ll decide whether you fit our MSGF or MSQF programs based on your quantitative background and your potential to pursue a career of a quantitative analyst. The program quality and the program reputation are of my outmost concern. In this email, we just want to keep you fully informed about the MSGF opportunity as a free option.
Sincerely,
GGoswami
