The assumption is that we are comparing a prime number with 2. Since all prime numbers except 2 are odd, the difference between those non-2 prime numbers has to be even, thus out of the scope of this question. So you cannot choose 5 as the starting point.
In addition, the stimulus simply asks "whether N can be the difference between two prime numbers" not "whether N MUST be the difference between two prime numbers." |
