Round 1 Update

Now that roughly a month has passed since our first application deadline, I thought it would be a good time to give a quick update on where we stand in the process.  We’re still very much in the midst of reviewing applications and sending out interview invitations.  At this point, we’ve extended roughly two-thirds of the invitations that we will ultimately send out for the round.  Although this means that the majority of invitations have already gone out, it also means that we still have many more left to extend.  We hope to invite the remaining candidates as soon as possible to give people enough time to schedule their interview before our December 16 Round 1 decision notification date.
At the same time that we are reviewing applications, we are also continuing to offer ways to connect with the Yale SOM community and learn more about the school.  For example, among other events, we are hosting an online chat with international students on December 10; I will personally be holding an application tips chat on November 18; and we will have our annual Open House event here on campus on December 3.  A full list of events is on our website.

楼主,我是现在在英国念大学最后一年的，想报silver scholar program，现在只能赶着R2了，而且时间还是有点紧，因为要等12月20号考完GMAT，老师的推荐信也有点赶。我没什么特别的prefessional work experience, interships什么的，但是校园活动还是挺多，而且也做了很多NOG慈善支教之类的事。我可能错过了挺多之前的events，不过我这样背景和这个时间的申请的机会多大，我最怕我老师问为什么一大学毕业就要上business school。。。希望多了解一些yale som的情况

楼主mm, 想问一下yale对于纯engineering background转consulting有先例么？我2011fall主要是申请engineering management,不过在申请过程中发现其实MBA也是不错的选择，于是手忙脚乱准备申请R2，看到前面讲说yale纯engineering招的很少，有些没底

副我的Background:
新加坡semiconductor manufacturing company 2.5 years experience till now. Senior Engineer, 工作经历写的话，也就是一些teamwork, leadership什么的。
GRE 690 (97%) + 800 (94%) + 3.5 (26%) GMAT 没考，不过我看了几家都是可以用GRE成绩的。
TOEFL 103, 不过有些学校不需要新加坡bachelor degree的托福成绩。
本科也是在新加坡读的，first class honours, GPA大概3.57/4.
我想读MBA然后进consulting firm.

希望可以得到你的建议，谢谢！

Sorry我真的蛮久没来了……上学有点忙。机会有多大这个谁也说不好，这种问题问了以后，回答的人未免责任太大了些。我想主要还是看你自己的信心，还有怎么表达。活动的数量多固然很好，质量和你对它们的理解也非常重要。最重要的还是你自己知道为什么要上business school.  Silver scholar最看重的是maturity. 你要说服committee你能够跟工作了三五年甚至十年的申请人平等交流，而且还要能贡献自己的观点。如果你怕老师问你为什么要上bschool, 恐怕还要get readier for it

er... engineering转consulting有先例，而且只要你言之有理，学校会接受的，而且也谈不上限制一说，主要还是recruiter欣赏不欣赏你。想进consulting firm的人太多了，学校当然希望大家都进，但是你有没有信心吸引recruiter给你面试呢？


GRE的问题，我不肯定，但是Yale真的take GRE分数吗？况且GMAT还是挺重要的，现在我们所有学生的简历里面几乎还都有写……除这个之外，分数我觉得基本上都不错（写作好像有些低，不知道你T的写作怎么样），工作年限也够了，重要的是你的经历有没有什么闪光点能让人有眼前一亮的感觉。MBA的申请还是非常讲质不讲量的，关键是感觉……呵呵，希望这么说你能明白我在说什么

虽然我最后一次考下来的GMAT成绩还是不高，但是我觉得凭着我的GPA（英国大学里的first honour,大概折算成3.6-3.7）还有大量的扶贫志愿者活动，社团活动组织，自己创建杂志社等等经历，我还是可以博一博的，实在不行，就当是给后面学校的申请练练手啦

总之 谢谢你告诉我要展现maturity这一点，我现在也比较明确了why b-school now
虽然明天就是deadline了 我会努力申请的！

Great to know.  信心这玩意儿是自己给自己的，好的表现是随信心和准备来的。放松的心态不能雪中送炭，但一定是锦上添花。看到你对自己这么有信心，真的挺高兴。Good luck!

Happy Holidays!  I’d be happy to help with a message for waitlisted candidates.  I think the most important thing we can communicate is that waitlisting is not bad news for them.  It just means we need a little more time for their application, but we appreciate their patience and we know how hard it is to wait for a decision.  Our waitlist is managed by Allegra Erickson (allegra.erickson@yale.edu), so they are free to email Allegra to let her know that they are interested in remaining on the waitlist.  They can also update us with any significant changes to their application (e.g., promotion at work, new grades) at mba.admissions@yale.edu.  We’ll also be in touch periodically with everyone on the waitlist to keep them updated about their status.
