哦天~又颠覆我的一条绝对错原则。。。不过我查了一下Manhattan的论坛,Ron说(针对#1这句话): the normally preferred form would be "societies in which..." BUT, in this sentence, if you write that, then you have "...IN societies IN which..." ...which is bad. so apparently this is their 2nd choice for that sort of situation. #1和#2,还有这题的A选项都是在抽象名词前有in,所以才退而求其次用where的。那可否这样理解,在一般情况下where只能修饰noun place,但当metaphorical place前面有in的时候,为了避免in metaphorical place in which这种尴尬所以才选择用where。 -- by 会员 hermione0527 (2011/5/16 11:21:01)
umm....其实该prep题的解释出于OG12有一题的解释说过where和in which可以替换,我不记得哪题了。Ron说的也是自圆manhattan的一个说法,而manhattan原说法并不一定是GMAT认可的真理,所以还是保留性地接受好。其实多一个规则不如少一个规则,这样细小的区别是不会成为抉择点的,不推荐记忆manhattan这个说法。 |
