小妹是去年7月份本科毕业的,然后在泰国工作,打算今年申请明年秋季入学的mba program,工作年限2年还差一点,是不是申请不了top的学校呢?

希望各位大侠指点迷津

Yes, with only two years of work experience you absolutely CAN apply to top schools.  The best schools in the world (Harvard, where I attended, and Stanford especially) are accepting increasingly young candidates.  They will accept 20 or so students every year with absolutely NO work experience! This is the case more and more.

In order to be selected, your profile will need to be VERY strong of course, with a great GMAT and a solid work experience if only for two years.  But if you can achieve these two things, then HBS and Stanford especially will look at your application very eagerly!

Good luck! Jon Frank, Founder

Thank you very much for your contribution here at CD JoneFrank! I have a question regarding "solid" working experience. Is Sales & Trading considered solid enought? How important is the "brand" of the bank itself? When you attended to HBS, were all the people with a banking background from Bulge Brackets  and elite midmarkets?

Hi iNFU ,thank you for the note!  It is my pleasure to help on CD--we love helping people!  : )   The answer to your question is that YES!  Absolutely, sales and trading can be considered solid work experience.  No, at HBS many people came from all over the world, in all different kinds of experiences.  Good experience doesnt need to come from a top ten firm, etc.  Any interesting experience can get you into business school.  In my class, for example, we had a guy who started a record label, one guy who launched a clothing label, and someone who was an accountant.  The one thing these people all had in common--they were all very creative, interesting, and wrote fabulous applications.  So dont be intimidated!  You dont need typical experience to get into HBS, you just need to write atypically good applications!
