Hey there, and happy to answer this question.  While I chose to attend HBS, I got into Johnson as well, so I can help here!  : )

The answer is that you can do this however you want--talking about the past, the future, or both!  It is up to you.  But the MOST important thing is to be creative.  We have worked with clients who have only talked about their past experiences (and they were accepted at Johnson) and we have also worked with clients who talked about their futures (and they were accepted!)  The key is to be creative.  That is, you dont want this to become a resume--your resume will of course be submitted elsewhere in your application.  So here, you should talk about things that do NOT appear in your resume, and you need to find ways to be creative about it.  For inspiration, I recommend that you take a look at  the Table of Contents for an American author named J. Maarten Troost.  He has some very creative Tables of Contents--and they may inspire you!

Hope this helps, and good luck!

Hi, Jon, the information is very useful for me. But I was wondering how you define "creative". I searched J. Maarten Troost but couldn't find table of contents. Could you provide a link or briefly demonstrate his works? High appriciate!

可以尝试在amazon.com 上输入作者名字,里面有些可以预览书的内容的,你就可以发现书的contents 了。
