During 并不能说明后面的主句和从句都必须是过去时态。这个理解需要纠正！

分析：
1。到是未划线主句部分的动词JOURNED，以及从句中没有出现暗示其他时态的副词---说明---划线的从句动词必须是过去时态，以便与主句时态一致，而非过去完成时态（A。D选项）或现在完成时态（C选项）。

2。就凭这一个考点，如果你能正确理解，就可以立刻排除A。D。C选项。

3。剩下B和E选项，唯一的区别就是THAT 从句的动词时态。找从句中能使B项中WERE DOING 成立的副词，结果没有。另外 VISITED 缺乏主语THEY，所以排除B。

4。再看D选项。D项中THAT从句的谓语是过去时态FORMED，与之前主句中的JOURNEYED 和后面的VISITED 在时态上一直。 而且VISITED的主语补足，有THEY，且代词指代正确（主句中的俩个主人公）---完美的选项。

总之，这个题目的考察点就一个---动词的时态---重点考察考生对同时出现在句子中的几个动词的前后出现顺序的理解。

所以正常情况下，你应该用30秒完成这个题目，将时间留给其他考点更多的题目。。。
