打算申请但不想让老板知道. 如果录取了, 背景调查回让单位的HR知道吗? HR对这些调查会保密吗?还是出于对公司的考虑回和我老板打招呼呢?谢谢解惑.

不仅是HR，如果学校真的要对你做背景调查，那可能问你的同事，任何人，可能是HR，甚至是你的老板。如果某些人知道了会不会散布出去，那全看他们个人人品了。
这种事情根本不可控的。不过学校做背景调查的概率不会很高。

The background check only happens after you admitted and decided to go the school. So that happens very late in the process ( probably a couple of month before class starts) . Not all schools are doing background check.

Suddenlyisee, I don't know for your company, whether your HR would tell your boss, but eventually you have to quit for your MBA. Before the background check process, you would receive full info about the process and verify certain info for Kroll before it starts. So at that time, you can consider quit your job to aviod awkwardness with your boss.
