If becoming a professor is your career goal rather than some random thought, you should not give up easily. Despite the fact that most active professors work at top 30 schools, some less prestigious schools also have good faculties.
I am really excited at the thought that one day I could work with people I admire and interact with intelligent minds. The dream is worth all my effort.
BTW, if I can't gain the offer from top 30 schools, I may abandon the PHD study, since I am a little old, and i think that the PHD in a university after top 30 won't be very valuable for becoming a professor anyhow, i mean, if i am not so interested in the PHD in a just normal university. And I think that i may find a good job based on my current backgroud. -- by 会员 eastshu (2009/12/31 14:46:03)
