Despite the merger with NYU, Poly and NYU are still two independent entities. The advangtages of the merger for Poly students now are the access to some NYU resournces, library, campus wireless, and taking courses at other NYU schools (as non-degree students), but no access to NYU career service. It will take several years to see more substantial changes i guess.
Frankly speaking, if you are serious about your education, Poly may be not a good choice.
Students here are not serious about learning,
professors here are not serious about teaching either.
The department doesn't care much about the job placement of their graduate. At least, i don't see their efforts. It is not a well-organized program, or very messy in my opinion. If you come here, you have to totally rely on yourself. "
Well, the most important thing is the career center/job placement support. As you know, Berkeley is arguably is the best in that area. But Poly and its
program director Charles Tapeiro has absolutely no interest in helping the students land jobs. You won't find any help in finding internships, either. No banks recruit there, anyway.

lus, I heard that Poly is admitting more students than they can handle;
almost all students are from China, and they don't even speak English in class and stick to their own group. Nothing against them. It's just a fact."
