[讨论]MFE在美国就业问题-谢谢

有人能说一下Columbia的情况吗？ 以前在那个很多学校MFE项目比较的贴里看到，说Columbia是大班，70-80人左右，比较杂，含金量一般，而且项目只有一年，对找工作比较不利，是这样么？

还有上Cornell的网站看，好像MFE只招20人左右，那是不是意味着巨难进？

Columbia除了人多之外，也没啥不好吧，就是就业服务冷清了点，目前数字不太好看。

Cornell是很难，光IBT就能挡住第一波进攻。

先忽略那个就业服务，Columbia 只有一年，会不会找工作很难吖？连internship的时间都没有.....而且相对于MBA,读MFE的人比较多是没有工作经验.....

Cornell的IBT有要求是多少么？

我想对于绝大多数人来说，no internship = no full time job 。时间上来说，不知道CU的OPT有多少，不过那只是为了你找到full time而缓解H1b的一个临时解决方案。最长也就是29 months，不过也可以缓一缓了。

参考这段：Please keep in mind that this does not change your status until you actually find a job and that company agrees to petition to change your visa status to 29 months.  This just makes it easier for companies to consider you since you will be working with them for a longer OPT period of time … that is, their will have a much higher ROI  for a 29 month work period。

Cornell的IBT要求具体不记得了，好像是各单项都要上25，你要自己查查。

CMU很不错了，今年底毕业的很大程度是因为大环境的影响。NYU class小一点，他的地利和校友都非常强大。何况，我们又不是学校的board member，有必要去比拼就业率吗。自己想做什么工作，就申请对应的学校呗。至于能不能进，那又是另外一回事了。

我个人非常喜欢CMU.

Not all the MFEs are difficult, and not all the MSF are easy either. For example, UMICH MFE is considered one of the easier MFEs compare tothe other top MFE programs with less quant stuff. On the other hand,WUSTL's MSF has about the same level of quant math courese as a normalMFE program.

I see people with various background doing MFE, such as international trade and marketing. Don't give up MFE just because you believe you don't have the backgroud MFE looking for.

Not because the difficulty, but because I love math and  believe the best finance is based on strongest mathmatics...I do not apply mfe becasue i don't have GRE score/.

美国top 学校的mfe有进保险公司的吗？在保险公司里会做些什么性质的工作呢？国外保险公司投资部职业路径怎么样呢？保险公司投资部需要很多数学知识吗？有人能解释一下吗？多谢！
