对杨鹏阅读难句-4.2 no.016的解释的不同看法

原句是这样的：
To buttress their case that caffeine acts instead by preventing adenosine binding, Snyder et al compared the stimulatory effects of a series of caffeine derivatives with their ability to dislodge adenosine from its receptors in the brains of mice.

在杨鹏这本书里， gmat部分的第16句。他解释道：这句的难点是对compare with所比的事物的不理解造成的牛角尖。
但我认为在这里，compare跟with并不成为一个短语。换句话说，with其实是引导了一个修饰caffeine derivatives的长修饰--Snyder et al通过比较不同的（来自一系列咖啡因衍生物造成的）刺激效果，什么样的衍生物呢--有着（从接收器上剥离adenosine的）能力。跟compare没啥关系。

所以不存在effect和ability的比较，ability是修饰derivatives的。
