USC housing 的问题

在申请USC 有一张HOUSING的申请表 是他们自己的宿舍 非常的贵 我想问一下不是一定要住那个吧？学校周边有没有便宜的公寓住呢？

请前辈指教~~~~谢谢啦~~~

可以不住学校宿舍的,周边有很多housing~
不过学校的宿舍比较安全就是了

I believe you do not have to live in USC's housing. When you come to US, you can rent a house around school, from $500 to $1500 a month. You can find a house when you come to US. Better ask Chinese students in the school to offer help.

the area around USC is not very safe.  i would suggest staying in the school dorm.

In fact, safety is a legitimate concern here. North to USC campus is pretty safe; if possible, avoid living in south to campus.

The USC neighborhood is pretty bad (okay, it's VERY bad). Everyweek, there's robery and break in happen. The campus security sends out warnings, and updates every week, and there's always something happening late at night near the campus. (Which is probably why the campus is gated)

So I'd actually recommend staying in areas north from the campus. Some downtown apt are pretty good, but rather pricey. Otherwise, some people stays in Alhambra (40min drive with traffic), and drive to school everyday. Alhambra area has a lot of chinese population, and chinese food. Much cheaper and fairly safe.

Also, parking is a problem in USC too. Make sure you get on the parking permit purchase ASAP. Parking lot X is probably best location wise for B-school, but it's considered on-campus. So if you want to save money, park at the parking structure (forgot the name, but it's slightly cheaper).

Also, it's a norm to pay about USD $800 per person per month near USC for decent quality. You're in LA, a big city, so can't expect price comparable to rural america.

Try Korean Town district in LA too, it's about 15min drive from the campus, and some areas of it are pretty safe and in the range i mentioned above.

因为要回国实习，所以现在寻求sublease。房子在USC Campus的西北角一个block的地方，紧临Jefferson Blvd，走路5分多钟就可以到学校，很安全（有时晚上十二点我也自己走路回家，虽然不提倡吧。。。学校的车可以送到家门口）。合同到10年7月底，合同结束后，觉得合适还可以续签，sublease最早可以从4月开始。

整个house有两层楼6间房，前面一个院子，院子里中满了花很漂亮，还有个后院，可以停车，还有烧烤炉和帐篷，我们经常会邀请朋友来家里BBQ。房间很温馨，很多家具都赠送，还有有个独立冲凉房和洗漱台，衣帽间。

House里一共住6个人，现在的roommates都是usc的，而且超级nice（除我以外，有2个中国女生，一个印度PhD男生，还有一个美国男生，一个中国的访问学者，我们每周还会有一天做family dinner，全家人坐在一起分享生活）。外国的室友经常会组织各种各样的活动，可以认识很多外国的朋友，而且更容易融入美式生活。房东也很好，很爱干净很负责，设备齐全，除了自己的衣服，基本什么都不需要带，进来住就可以了（书桌，书架，床，衣帽间。。。都 provided）。
